Downlands

Downlands Park is a small established park of just 17 retirement homes, lying adjacent to Brickhill Park on a quiet country lane.
At the centre of Downlands is a delightful small green onto which all the homes face. All our plots enjoy a private garden with parking facilities either adjacent or near to each Park Home.
Regretfully no dogs are permitted to reside at Downlands.
The Local Area
At Pepperstock, the parks are surrounded by beautiful countryside yet close enough to towns & villages for all local amenities.
The village of Slip End is a short walk or drive away. As well as a beautiful church, general store & two pubs offering home-cooked food, the village boasts a thriving Village Hall at the centre of its community offering a range of activities, including the WI, Friendship Club, Gardening Club & Stompers Line Dancing! The Slip End social club is also very active & organises trips & entertainment throughout the year. The doctor's surgeries are conveniently situated in the neighbouring villages of Caddington & Markyate.
At the Park entrance, there is a bus stop, which provides a frequent service to the towns of Harpenden, St. Albans & Luton. Residents can also easily travel into London via excellent rail connections or venture further afield from nearby Luton Airport. The M1 motorway is easily accessed from junction 10, which is a short drive away.
There are plenty of lovely walks through the surrounding countryside as well as several golf courses, bowling clubs & sport centres. Harpenden is just a short drive away where you will find a delightful park along with a choice of shops, restaurants, bars & cafés. Alternatively many of the major high street shops can be easily visited in the historic city of St Albans or the town centre of Luton.
With picturesque views, countryside walks, historical towns & cities nearby, there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.
- Harpenden Farmer's Market takes place on the 4th Sunday of every month. Attracting a variety of local producers, the market offers a huge selection of delicious produce.
- Stockwood Discovery Centre – An award-winning museum & exhibition centre with beautiful gardens illustrating nine hundred years of garden history.
- St Albans Cathedral & Verulamium Park - Verulamium Park, named after the Roman City, is set in 100 acres of beautiful parkland and is home to the Verulamium Museum displaying hundreds of excavated objects and the Inn on The Park Cafe. The impressive St Albans Cathedral is perched on the hill overlooking the park and is open to the public.
- Whipsnade Wild Animal Park – Home to 2500 wild animals roaming freely within 600 acres of Chiltern parkland on the Dunstable Downs.
- Dunstable & Whipsnade Downs - The highest point in the county of Bedfordshire with superb views over outstanding countryside & voted one of the seven natural wonders in the East of England.
